Reminders 10/18/2013

You are the reminder
of everything I cannot have
Cigarette smoke on playground slides
Climbing fences and late night drives
Twisted smile and ironic statements
I do not have the words to fill up your empty spaces
Don’t know how to wrap my arms around you
When I can barely touch your fingers with mine
You are all jagged edges and pieces that
Don’t necessarily fit so I don’t force it
Only gravitational pull of good conversation and
cryptic phrases
You are (too) many years of friendship
aged and overused like calloused palms and I
wouldn’t know how to ever be more for you than that.
